A Manhattan maze puzzle game is a game in which the objective is to move a diamond from a starting position through a map to the goal.

Every level contains a map of tiles on which different types of actors are placed.
For some level there is a limitation of the number of steps the player can make to reach the exit.

The map of a Manhattan level consist of a grid of tiles.
There are three types of tiles:
Floor - A type of tile that the player can stand on.
Brittle - A type of tile that the player can stand on, but dissolves into a void when the player leaves the tile.
Void - The absence of a tile. The player can not move into a void.
There are five types of actors available to put into a Manhattan level:
Player - The blue diamond that the player of the games controls via the arrow keys.
Exit - To clear a level the player must move into the exit.
ExitOpener - If the player steps into an exit opener, an exit is places somewhere on the map.
TileModifier - If the player steps into a tile modifier, a tile somewhere in the map might be changed from one type into another.
StepAdder - If the player steps into a step adder, the step count for the player is increased.
